Christine's Graduation

Mom flew in from AZ last week to fly to NJ with Jen, the kids and me. Sandi had to stay behind on this trip because we are closing on our house on Wed and she was coming off a trip for work. There is a ton going on right now with the move, but we really wanted to be there for Christine's graduation. We flew into LaGuardia and drove out to Frenchtown in a rented minivan. If I can help it, I will NEVER fly into LaGuardia again. Getting in was not too bad, but getting out was a real bear. The drive back to the airport was pretty stressful, but we made the flight - barely. The airport is not really well marked and finding the rental car return really sucked. Oh year...don't forget about the traffic - New York makes the eisenhower expressway look look like the traffic in Frenchtown.
Evan and I played some frisbee golf during the weekend. We also did some sight seeing and shopping. It was great to see everyone and spend some time out east. Check out the pics from the trip:

South FL in February 2007

We finally made it back to Chicago early Monday morning after a very long night at the airport.  Aiden was  trouper after a long 8 hour delay in Fort Meyers.  Our original flight was candeled  on Saturday night due to a nasty ice storm in Chicago.  We finally got a window on Monday morning around 2 am.  The weather in Florida was great.  We spent the week with Jack and Eva at their winter condo in Bonita Springs which is about an our north of Naples.  It was sunny and 80 every day which made great weather for golf, running outside and some time at the pool.  Aiden loved all the fresh air!  He had his own pool to wade around in and bask in the sun....covered in 45 sun block of course.  Jack and I played two rounds of golf which I really enjoyed.  The new irons worked great!  It felt really good to be out on the course for the first time in 2007.  Sandi and I had one night out alone which we walked to a local Mexican restuarant nearby.  It was a great star filled night and  with some much needed alone time for the two of us.   

Cean and Caity came down from Sarasota to spend the day with us Friday.  It was great to see both of them and how well Caity is growing up.  She was great with Aiden the whole day. 

Memorial Day Right into Summer!

Memorial Day weekend is typically the start to summer - so what better way to spend the weekend than in a log cabin in Michigan.  Gretchen's Mom and step dad built (Brian actually built it himself) a great log cabin on a little lake in north of Saginaw.  We got all loaded up and left town Friday afternoon around noon.  We were actually on-time.  We decided to take Lake Shore Drive south all the way to the Skyway rather than trying the Dan Ryan.  The Ryan has been a mess since early spring due to a major renovation.  Southbound lake shore was no winner either.  It takes a lot of turns through residential areas which are pretty slow.  Nice when you are right on the lake, though.  I did notice there was a lot of property on this route that could be really great as an investment.  I don't think I would like to live down there any time soon.

We got to Michigan in about six hours.  As soon as we walked in Gretchen's Mom started to spoil us and didn't stop until we left.  She cooked us some great meals and there was always something on the counter to munch on.  It was really a relaxing time which was kinda necessary with Sandi 7 months pregnant. 

We did a little fishing - which I am not really good at.  Dan and Gretchen had all the luck reeling in about 20 fish between them.  I liked rowing the boat.  Guess I got some learning to do before I take my son fishing for the first time.  While we were there Dan bought his first set of clubs and we went golfing with his brother in law Andy.  Andy holed out on the last hole to beat me by one, but we both played pretty bad the whole day.  It was really hot -the course was easy, I just didn't have it that day.  Kinda the theme of the golf season for me this year.  All in all a great trip
